Anthony Davis has stressed that he is looking forward to suiting up for the Washington Wizards, touting their balanced roster.
Davis was linked to trade rumors in the offseason, but the Wizards reiterated they were keen on keeping the veteran forward, who will play a big role in the development of his young teammates.
The Athletic's David Aldridge and Josh Robbins, however, posited that the 33-year-old Davis will continue to be mentioned in trade rumors as the upcoming season rolls along.
“Davis' agent, Rich Paul, is one of the game’s most powerful player representatives, and he has proven skilled at securing the deals his high-profile clients want, in the cities where they want to be,” wrote Aldridge and Robbins.
“There's little doubt that Paul already has gamed out other teams' interest in Davis and will continue to do so as February’s trade deadline approaches.”
To recall, Paul played a huge role in Davis getting shipped to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019.
Article Continues BelowThe 10-time All-Star, who is coming off multiple injuries, has yet to play for the Wizards since they acquired him in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks in February.
Last season, he played only 20 games for the Mavericks, averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 1.7 blocks.
Davis remains one of the most talented two-way players in the NBA. His health, however, has always been the biggest concern. If he can stay on the floor, the Wizards could be a dark horse in the Eastern Conference, with him, Trae Young, AJ Dybantsa, Alex Sarr, Tre Johnson, and Khris Middleton leading the core.
The Golden State Warriors, the Atlanta Hawks, the Detroit Pistons, and the Toronto Raptors were reportedly interested in Davis in the offseason.
