The New York Jets recently took their first loss of the new season with a narrow overtime home defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers. Still, despite the setback, the Jets have performed above expectations so far this season, having dismantled the Tennessee Titans in Week 1.

Now, the team has added to its quarterback room as the new season continues.

“Former Titans QB Will Levis is signing with the Jets practice squad,” reported Tom Pelissero of Netflix and The Ringer on X, formerly Twitter. “Levis started 21 games for Tennessee before missing last season with a shoulder injury. He takes the place of Bailey Zappe, who’s being released.”

Levis was let go by the Titans this offseason after a tough start to his career over the previous couple of years following his stint at the University of Kentucky.

While he struggled to adjust to the speed of the NFL level, he still has some physical gifts that teams are looking for, including size and arm talent, as well as the ability to make plays with his legs.

There have been several quarterbacks who were highly drafted, flamed out early, and then went on to resurrect their careers elsewhere, none more prominent than reigning Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl champion Sam Darnold, who is currently out with an injury.

The Jets certainly wouldn't mind Levis undergoing a similar career renaissance.

Meanwhile, New York will next hit the field on Sunday for a tough road game against the Detroit Lions at 1:00 pm ET.
