After a game where Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford offered up yet another pick-six, the teams also stewed about a controversial pass-interference call. Things are looking shaky, perhaps. But Dan Orlovsky isn’t worried about the Week 3 loss to the Broncos, according to a post on X by ESPN NFL.
“I thought the Rams played a better game than the Broncos,” Orlovsky said. “There were some blown coverages. (Jaylen) Watson going out was a part of that. But I still watch that game, and go, the Rams are the better football team. They’re 1-2. Travel. Health of players. They will be absolutely fine.”
OK, let’s see it in the standings. They’re already two games behind the 49ers.
What are the Rams’ main issues?
One of them is finishing what they started. They are averaging the second-most yards per game in the NFL at 417.7. However, they are below average with only 20.3 points per contest.
A big part of that could be the absence of Puka Nacua. He is not only a red zone threat, but also takes attention away from other guys and makes it easier for them to make plays. And Stafford has always been a whiz at deciphering the right option near the goal line.
Stafford has thrown for 872 yards in three games and has six touchdown passes. However, he also has four interceptions. In each of the last two seasons, Stafford totaled only eight picks for the entire season. He’s on a pace now to chuck 23 interceptions.
If you want to know anything else about the Rams’ struggles, it might not be a good time to ask Rams head coach Sean McVay. He didn’t have much time for the media after the loss, according to NBC Sports.
“McVay spent about 90 seconds on the podium after the 30-26 loss in Denver and fielded a couple of questions before signing off,” Josh Alper wrote. “The answers to those questions didn’t provide much insight into what went wrong for the Rams.”
