The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of the NFL's most short-handed teams after Baker Mayfield's injury was announced and a Jalen McMillan knee injury became part of an ugly loss to the Vikings.
The Bucs got tough news on McMillan's knee heading into a new week as reported by Jenna Laine of ESPN.
“Update: It's a PCL sprain for Bucs wide receiver Jalen McMillan, per source. The second opinion will give much more clarity on the timetable for recovery, but the early thinking is this could be 6-8 weeks, which factors in his previous timetable.”
Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels is getting the attention of fantasy team owners and will take over for coach Todd Bowles' Bucs in their October 4 home duel with Jordan Love and the Packers. Daniels and his team are 3.5-point underdogs against Green Bay according to FanDuel Sports and will have their work cut out for them against a ferocious Lukas Van Ness led defense.
McMillan is a former third-round pick out of Washington who has been a disappointment due to injuries throughout his young career so far in the National Football League. He has not recorded a catch this season and will now join Mayfield among the Bucs' walking wounded.
The Buccaneers' season looks like a wash so far with Bowles attempting to lighten the mood with a joke. Bowles' team might be given a free pass from fans this season based on the way they've been affected by injuries, but it won't make the sting of what looks like a potential losing season feel much better by the time it's all said and done.
