Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams received an $11,941 fine from the NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct during the team's 28-20 Week 1 loss to the New York Giants.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported Saturday that the league fined Williams for taunting after he held the football toward a Giants defender following his touchdown. Officials also penalized Williams on the play, and Dallas subsequently missed the extra-point attempt.

“The NFL fined Cowboys RB Javonte Williams $11,941 for unsportsmanlike conduct (taunting) — holding the ball towards a Giants defender after his TD last week. Williams also was penalized and Dallas missed the extra point,” Pelissero wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Javonte Williams, Cowboys look to rebound in Week 2

Williams' fine adds another consequence from a frustrating season opener for Dallas. The Cowboys fell behind early against the Giants before ultimately suffering an eight-point loss to begin the season 0-1.

Williams will now turn his attention toward helping Dallas bounce back in its home opener.

The Cowboys will host the Washington Commanders, who also enter the matchup at 0-1, in Week 2 on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.

Dallas will look to avoid an 0-2 start as Williams and the Cowboys offense attempt to rebound from their disappointing opening-week performance against New York.
