This is going to be a long season for the Golden State Warriors. After remaining almost silent during the NBA offseason, the Bay Area team is having a hard time while facing their former players.

Ahead of the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Steve Kerr made it clear that he does not view Jonathan Kuminga and Yaxel Lendeborg as comparable players.

According to The Athletic, the Warriors coach addressed the comparison before Wednesday's game, with Kuminga facing his former team for the first time as a member of Minnesota. Lendeborg, meanwhile, has quickly established himself as an important part of Golden State's rotation.

“They’re very different players,” Kerr said. “This is a different era for us. We wish Jonathan well. I know he was in Atlanta last year, a new team this year, it looks like he’s playing really well, and we’re happy for him.”

Both players were lottery picks expected to contribute to Golden State's future. However, their experiences with the organization have been considerably different. Kuminga spent several seasons struggling to establish a consistent role under Kerr, while Lendeborg has received significant playing time early in his rookie campaign.

A Warriors front office source also acknowledged that Kuminga did not receive the same opportunities as Lendeborg. Golden State was competing for championships during Kuminga's early years, leaving less room for player development.

Lendeborg has benefited from a different situation, with injuries to key players creating opportunities for him to become a regular contributor. The 24-year-old has responded with impressive performances, quickly earning the coaching staff's trust.
