Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jonathan Kuminga is off to a quick start with his new team, which set the stage for facing his former team, the Golden State Warriors, all the more interesting on Wednesday. Kuminga got into it with the Warriors' bench amidst his best performance of the season, finishing with a season-high 20 points, five assists, three rebounds, and two steals against his former team. However, Jonathan didn't get into it with his former teammates. It was his former coaches.

During a 119-114 loss, Timberwolves' Kuminga revealed he was yapping at his former performance development coach, Warriors assistant coach, Anthony Vereen, per The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski and Nick Friedell.

“I was just going back and forth with him because he used to be my PD coach,” he said. “He was one of my brothers. It goes way beyond basketball.”

Facing off against Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, Timberwolves' Jonathan Kuminga, who was supposed to be Golden State's future, played with more effort as the two clashed often throughout the night. All-Star Stephen Curry led all scorers with 44 points, including six threes, and Lendeborg finished with 26 points, and nine rebounds.

After Kuminga battled for playing time with the Warriors last season, he was ultimately traded to the Atlanta Hawks ahead of last season's deadline. Then, Kuminga decided to sign with the Timberwolves during the offseason. Timberwolves All-Star Anthony Edwards recruited the six-year forward, who's been trying to establish himself as a rising star in the NBA.

And with Edwards sidelined for the next two months with a knee injury, Kuminga will have more opportunities to prove himself in his first season with the Timberwolves. He's averaging 13.2 points on 46% shooting, including 47.6% from beyond the 3-point arc, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.0 steals this season.
