With the Seattle Seahawks going up against the Chicago Bears this Sunday, the team will look a bit different after adding top offensive lineman Quenton Nelson from the Indianapolis Colts. As Nelson was traded from the Seahawks to the Colts earlier this week, head coach Mike Macdonald gave his reaction to the deal with a huge declaration about the newest addition.

There's no denying that Nelson has been one of the more productive offensive linemen in the NFL, racking up three first-team All-Pro NFL honors and eight Pro Bowls. Macdonald would speak to the media on Thursday, saying that Seattle has acquired a “surefire Hall of Fame guard.”

“It's an opportunity to bring along an all-time, probably a surefire Hall of Fame guard, and with a great track record and for our understanding about the type of person he is to join our locker room is just an opportunity that…it's going to make the Seahawks better. So today…it's day two of them in the building, and it was exciting to be out there practicing today,” Macdonald said, via Brady Henderson.

Mike Macdonald on state of the Seahawks after Quenton Nelson trade

Macdonald would continue talking about the Seahawks trading for Nelson, making sure to mention that the deal made wasn't an indictment of the current status of the team's offensive line.

“We're really excited to have the opportunity to acquire Quenton Nelson…we're excited for him to add, you know, to join our squad, join the twelves,” Macdonald said. “Also, I just felt like it's necessary saying I think our offensive line probably played their best game of the season this past Sunday night, and I just want to be clear: this isn't like a commentary on any of our personnel or anything like that. We love our guys.”

At any rate, the reigning champions in Seattle look to be even better after the Nelson trade, as the Seahawks look for their second straight win on Sunday against the Bears, with the team 4-3, second in the NFC West.
