On Thursday, the Los Angeles Rams stumbled out of the gate with a blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia to open up their season. On Sunday, things went from bad to worse for Los Angeles when ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that superstar Myles Garrett would undergo knee surgery that would keep him out for a minimum of four games.

Now, fans are wondering when they will see future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald, who recently came out of retirement to rejoin the Rams, back on the field this season.

They did get some good news on that front on Sunday.

“When the Rams play next Monday night vs. the Giants, they will be without Myles Garrett but they very well could have back Aaron Donald,” reported Schefter on X, formerly Twitter.

Garrett did not look at all like his usual self in his Rams debut against the 49ers, after Los Angeles traded for him in a blockbuster deal this offseason. Perhaps the knee issue that prompted the surgery could explain at least some of that lack of production.

Meanwhile, the NFL world is anxious to see what Donald still has in the tank at age 35, and after two full years away from the NFL after he initially announced his retirement. In his playing days, Donald was among the best defensive players in league history, and he could be asked to take on a bigger role than usual now that Garrett is out for the foreseeable future.
