The Indiana Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton last played for his NBA franchise in the 2024-25 season, when he led them all the way to the Finals. While the Pacers ended up losing the Oklahoma City Thunder, Haliburton did win the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, despite the minimal playing time.
Post-tournament, Haliburton posted a hilarious tweet on X, joking about how he ended up getting an âÂÂA on the group projectâ despite not doing any of the work. That tweet even earned a laughing response from none other than Elon Musk, with the Pacers guard now responding to the exchange, per a post on X by ClutchPoints.
âÂÂI didn't realize that the tweet was going to bang like it did,â he said. âÂÂThen I like muted it because it was going crazy for a little bit, but when I came back and like Elon Musk had retweeted it, I was like, âÂÂOh, this is getting a little crazy.' But it made it fun for sure.âÂÂ

Right after Team USA won the gold medal, Haliburton posted a selfie with his medal, acknowledging his minimal playing time on the star-studded roster.

The tweet eventually ended up getting MuskâÂÂs attention, who responded with a laughing emoji. Haliburton, by his own admission, had not realized exactly how much attention his post had ended up getting. The 26-year-old revealed that he ended up muting his phone when the tweet initially went viral, and only saw MuskâÂÂs response at a later time.
Regardless, the Pacers star is currently gearing up for the new season after sitting out the 2025-26 campaign. Haliburton tore his right Achilles tendon during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, and it will be fair to say that the Pacers ended up missing their main man.
Indiana finished 14th in the Eastern Conference with a 19-63 record and will be counting on his return to get them back into contention in the upcoming season.
