Coming off an explosive showing in Game 2, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark came into Game 3 brimming with confidence.

The result, however, did not go as planned, as the Fever bowed to the Las Vegas Aces, 94-83, at Michelob ULTRA Arena and were booted out of the first round of the playoffs.

As expected in a do-or-die tussle, it got physical. In the fourth quarter, Clark was struck in the face while she was going up for a rebound after being inadvertently elbowed by Jewell Loyd. The referees did not call a foul.

In the postgame conference, the 24-year-old Clark gave a telling response when asked whether it merited a foul.

“Your guess would be as good as mine,” said the three-time All-Star.

Clark struggled with her shot, scoring 18 points on 18 attempts. She had four assists, two steals, four blocks, and six of Indiana's 10 turnovers.

She gave credit to the Aces for displaying their championship mettle, admitting that the reigning titlists “played well” and were “ready to go.”

Clark criticized the referees after Game 2, describing the way they called the contest as “confusing.” She fouled out in the fourth quarter.

In Game 3, she and Brianna Turner were each whistled a technical foul in the first quarter after a brief confrontation.

The Aces shot 15 more free throws than the Fever, which Clark called “interesting.”

Indiana failed to avenge its loss to Las Vegas in last year's semifinals. The Aces, who are seeking their fourth title, will play in the semifinals for the eighth straight season.
