Todd Monken didn't mince words about Deshaun Watson's clutch efforts following his game-winning drive in the Cleveland Browns' 27-24 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon.
Watson has been playing in the NFL since 2017, going through his fifth season with the Browns. Following off-field controversies and injuries, the 2026 season marks his healthiest season in years.
Watson is off to a strong start for Cleveland, helping them exceed expectations with one of the best records in the AFC. They earned another win after beating Tennessee, seeing the start of Monken's head coaching career be incredible.
Monken reflected on the win after the game, per reporter Mary Kay Cabot. He noted how Watson's lone interception wasn't his fault as he expressed how impactful the quarterback can be in clutch moments.
“The turnover on the slant where Denzel got shut off — he’s got to cross face and quarterback has got to be able to trust that,” Monken said. “(Deshaun) has something in him to make plays when it counts. We’re trying to flat line our play earlier in the game to be more consistent.”
