The San Francisco 49ers are currently preparing for their upcoming matchup on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. The team has gotten off to a great start this year despite playing without Brandon Aiyuk, who has been away from the team but reportedly may show up to practice on Friday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Now, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has spoken on Aiyuk's situation.

“None. I have no expectation. I’ve kind of moved on with that mentally,” he said, per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network on X, formerly Twitter.

Garafolo also reported that Shanahan “reiterated what he said in September, that Aiyuk is not an option for the team anymore.”

Things between Aiyuk and the 49ers have long since passed the point of no return, with the star actively pining for either a trade or release, neither of which the team has accommodated.

Aiyuk hasn't played since the 2024 season, in which he suffered a devastating leg injury, but tensions were already brewing between the two sides prior to that point.

Meanwhile, the 49ers have raced out to an excellent 6-1 record this year despite their troubles in the wide receiver room, and many expect them to scour the trade market for help in that department before next Tuesday's deadline.

While Aiyuk's arrival at practice may be what's best for him from a negotiating standpoint, it doesn't appear that the 49ers themselves view him as the solution to their depth problem at wide receiver.

In any case, the 49ers and Raiders are slated to kick things off on Sunday at 4:25 pm ET from the Bay Area.
