Kyle Lowry is going down as one of the greatest players in Toronto Raptors history. His impact on the franchise was so significant that he earned the key to the city.

Lowry played in the NBA for 20 seasons from 2006 to 2026. Nine of those years took place with the Raptors, being one of their top players from 2012 to 2021.

Lowry enjoyed his best years with the franchise, earning all six of his All-Star selections there. He also played alongside Kawhi Leonard as co-stars, leading the Raptors to the organization's first-ever championship in 2019.

Lowry announced his retirement following the 2025-26 season, last playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. Toronto is on pace to get Lowry's jersey retirement, happening in the 2026-27 campaign. Until then, city officials made sure to celebrate his legacy with the franchise by gifting him the key to the city.

What lies ahead for Raptors next season

The Raptors will surely celebrate Kyle Lowry's legacy as one of their greatest players ever.

Lowry proudly represented Toronto for nine years, averaging 17.5 points, 7.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game throughout 601 total appearances. On top of his six All-Star selections, he also earned a place on the All-NBA Third Team during the 2015-16 campaign.

They also prepare for a new era of basketball, while reuniting with Kawhi Leonard this offseason. Toronto acquired Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers this month in exchange for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick and several draft picks. This arrived following a long delay after the NBA completed its independent investigation on the Clippers, assessing punishments to them.

Toronto finished with a 46-36 record last season, securing the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference standings. They fierce competed against the Cleveland Cavaliers before falling in seven games.

The Raptors gear up for next season with Scottie Barnes and Leonard headlining the squad. Their preseason starts on Oct. 3 against the Miami Heat before commencing the regular season against the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 21.
