The Green Bay Packers got the first touchdown of Thursday Night Football against the Carolina Panthers care of tight end Tucker Kraft. It was a significant touchdown for Kraft, who is about to mark the one-year anniversary of the torn ACL he suffered against the Panthers.
However, the Packers were unable to take full advantage of the touchdown as kicker Trey Smack missed the extra point.
As Ari Meirov pointed out on X, the rookie kicker has now missed three extra points as well as five field goals this season. Smack was also unable to convert a couple of key field goals in the Packers' 20-17 loss to the Detroit Lions.
After showing a disappointed Smack, the camera quickly cut to Jordan Love's reaction to the missed PAT. The Packers quarterback did not look pleased as he scratched his head in frustration after removing his helmet on the sideline. Packers fans online had similarly negative reactions to Smack's missed PAT.

The kicker situation is quickly becoming a significant problem for the Packers. Both the offense and defense are performing well this season. But when things get tight in the playoffs, they will need their special teams to come through in clutch situations. And if they can't count on their rookie kicker to put points on the board, that will be a big hit to their chances of becoming a true Super Bowl contender.
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst will need to look for a solution to this ongoing situation before it's too late.
