The Chicago Bears shook the NFL landscape up by landing star defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons. General manager Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson now broke their silence on the deal made with the Tennessee Titans.

So both men sent out a release expressing their excitement in welcoming the standout pass rusher and interior defensive lineman.

“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to add a player, and a human, like Jeffrey on our team. And we look forward to Jeffrey's leadership and command as we continue to work towards sustained success,” Poles said through a news release.

Johnson added how Simmons is “one of the most respected players” in the NFL. Including citing his ability to double as an elite pass rusher and run stuffer.

“Jeffrey will have the opportunity to create a positive impact across our team. We look forward to the work ahead,” Johnson said in the same release.

Simmons brings four Pro Bowl appearances in tow to the Windy City. He's even fresh off producing his first career double-digit sack season with hitting 11 last season.

He's one sack away from producing his sixth straight season of hitting five sacks or more. Simmons became the face of the Titans' defense, but the franchise has fallen on hard times.

Tennessee has cycled through three different head coaches in Simmons' tenure at Nashville. Former coach Mike Vrabel brought him over via the NFL Draft as the 19th pick out of Mississippi State. Then he played for Brian Callahan and more recently, Robert Saleh. So now he joins the defending NFC North champions who sit at second in the division behind the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings.
