When LeBron James first signed with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason in free agency, one of the initial topics of discussions was where his place of residency would be. During 76ers Media Day on Monday, James confirmed that he would split time between both Philadelphia and New York, and following team practice on Tuesday to kick off training camp, James was spotted leaving the facility via helicopter, presumably on his way to New York.

It’s certainly going to be an interesting living situation for LeBron James, although it likely won’t matter to 76ers fans if the veteran of 24 years is able to bring a championship to the franchise. The 76ers have not won an NBA title since 1983 alongside such greats as Julius Erving and Moses Malone. They have not reached the NBA Finals since 2001 when Allen Iverson led them there.

But there is renewed optimism amongst the 76ers with the arrival of James, as well as the trade for 2024 Finals MVP Jaylen Brown. The duo joins an already established group including 2023 MVP Joel Embiid, All-Star Tyrese Maxey and budding star VJ Edgecombe.

A lot of the focus will be on James, however, as it usually has been throughout his career. This past season, he appeared in 60 games for the Los Angeles Lakers, at a little over 33 minutes per game. He averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.2 steals with splits of 51.5 percent shooting from the field, 31.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 73.7 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
