The Washington Wizards are hoping to take a step forward this year with their new-look roster, headlined by number one overall draft pick AJ Dybantsa alongside veterans Trae Young and Anthony Davis. Young signed a massive contract extension with the Wizards this offseason as he looks to reinvigorate his career following last year's trade from the Atlanta Hawks.
In Atlanta, Young was teammates with wing Zaccharie Risacher, whom the team traded to the Dallas Mavericks this offseason after selecting him number one overall back in 2024.
Recently, when speaking about Dybantsa, some fans thought that Young might have taken a subtle shot at Risacher and the Hawks.
“He's a really good number one pick for sure,” said Young, per Josh Robbins of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter.
Fans in the comment section were quick to take out their magnifying glasses.
“Trae rlly stood up for Zacch his first year and now sneak dissing him,” wrote one fan.

Risacher had some moments in Atlanta but overall was very disappointing as the number one pick, although pundits had already declared his 2024 draft class as one of the worst in recent NBA history even before that selection was made.
The Frenchman will now look to revitalize his career with the Mavericks, as Young looks to do the same in Washington after having watched the Hawks take off and go on a run to the playoffs as soon as he was traded last year.
With Dybantsa and Davis by his side, Young will have a good chance to re-establish himself as an elite NBA point guard this year.
