Kristaps Porzingis has been the biggest mystery for the Golden State Warriors. After signing a new two-year, $40 million contract with the team in the offseason and expecting to be ready for the start of the 2026-27 season, Porzingis missed the team's training camp in Hawaii and has not played at all in the NBA preseason due to ongoing health issues that have once again emerged.
Since partaking in the players-only training camp hosting by Jimmy Butler in San Diego, Porzingis has not been around the team and a lot of uncertainty has surrounded what is actually going on with him.
Even though he didn't give many details as to what is actually going on with Porzingis in terms of his health and overall status with the 2026-27 season a week away, head coach Steve Kerr provided a key update on the next steps with the Latvian big man.
“He'll be here tomorrow,” Kerr told reporters on Monday. “(There's) no update beyond that, but he'll be in the building tomorrow meeting with Rick (Celebrini) and the performance team.”
When asked by Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area on whether Kerr could comment on Porzingis' status entering the regular season, the head coach declined to provide any explanation.
“All of that will be determined as we get him back here and have discussions and figure out where he is and all that stuff.”
Article Continues BelowTo this point, there have been conflicting reports on where exactly Porzingis has been over the last few weeks as he's been dealing with an undisclosed health issue, but Kerr has commented previously saying that he's been in contact with Rick Celebrini, who is the team's director of sports medicine and performance.
On Monday, ESPN reported that both Celebrini and the front office have been in “constant” contact with one another during his absence.
This is a developing story that will be updated shortly.
