The Golden State Warriors are currently gearing up for their 2026-27 NBA season, which is slated to begin on Wednesday night vs the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors enter this season without a ton of expectations, considering that they are trotting out essentially the same exact roster that won 37 games a year ago, with everyone now a year older.
Recently, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr got candid about how the team has seemingly failed to surround superstar point guard Stephen Curry with adequate help during the twilight years of his career.
“I think over the last five years we’ve made mistakes, myself included. I’ve made my share of mistakes as a coach. We’ve made our share of mistakes organizationally, but there’s never been a lack of commitment to Steph,” he said, per Logan Murdock of The Ringer.
Kerr also spoke directly to fans who have wanted the Warriors to push all their chips to the center of the table by trading every available future draft pick and asset in hopes of landing a star.

You would’ve liked to have seen one of those big fish here, but now we’re heading into the next era where we’ve got all this cap room and all our picks,” he said.
Indeed, the Warriors figure to have a ton of flexibility next offseason as a result of having held onto some of their future draft picks, but whether or not that will matter anymore with Curry on the cusp of turning 40 remains to be seen.
