The Golden State Warriors are just hours away from kicking off their new season on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Warriors will be playing this one without several key players, including big man Kristaps Porzingis, who is once again dealing with a mysterious health issue that will cause him to miss the beginning of the season.
Now, a huge update has been announced on Golden State's plans for the future regarding Porzingis.
“The Golden State Warriors have begun exploring trade routes for veteran center Kristaps Porzingis, who remains out indefinitely as he deals with a private health issue that has him seriously contemplating his future in basketball, league sources told ESPN's Shams Charania,” reported NBA insider Anthony Slater of ESPN.
The Warriors signed Porzingis to a contract extension with $40 million over two years this past offseason, having acquired him from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Jonathan Kuminga at the trade deadline last season.

At this point, it's unclear what team would be willing to trade for the big man, considering his storied history of health issues and injuries, which date back far beyond just the last two years, but clearly, Golden State isn't intent on having him around for the long term.
