The Minnesota Vikings remained perfect after a gritty 15-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins. However, their biggest concern may have come on the injury front. Starting left tackle Christian Darrisaw exited Sunday’s contest multiple times after suffering a neck issue. He later experienced concussion symptoms, leaving his availability for Week 5 uncertain.
According to head coach Kevin O’Connell, via The Athletic’s Alec Lewis, Darrisaw was initially evaluated for a concussion after leaving with a neck issue. He cleared that evaluation and returned to the lineup. He then took another hit later in the game. Darrisaw subsequently developed concussion symptoms and was removed again. O’Connell did not confirm whether the veteran tackle had officially entered the NFL’s concussion protocol. The team expects a clearer update following further evaluation Monday.
The situation is particularly concerning given Darrisaw’s previous history with head injuries. Any extended absence would create a major problem for a Minnesota offense preparing for a Week 5 road matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Left guard Donovan Jackson also exited Sunday’s victory with a knee injury. He is set to undergo imaging. That adds another layer of uncertainty to the offensive line.
Article Continues BelowSelected 23rd overall by Minnesota in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech, Darrisaw developed into a cornerstone of the Vikings’ offensive front. His combination of powerful blocking, smooth footwork, and elite pass protection helped establish him among the league’s top tackles. He earned a lucrative four-year extension in 2024. Despite injury setbacks, Darrisaw has remained a foundational presence on Minnesota’s line.
For a 4-0 Vikings team, the priority now is clear: protect Darrisaw’s health while hoping Sunday’s scare does not become a prolonged absence.
