The Minnesota Vikings received encouraging news regarding running back Aaron Jones ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Detroit Lions, as the veteran returned to practice Thursday despite dealing with a knee injury.
Jones missed Wednesday's session after aggravating a sprained MCL in his left knee during Minnesota's 16-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. However, he was back on the field at TCO Performance Center on Thursday and participated on a limited basis, giving him an opportunity to be available for the upcoming NFC North clash.
The 31-year-old has been managing the knee injury since suffering the MCL sprain in Week 2. He has recorded 436 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 105 carries through six games, averaging 4.2 yards per attempt, while also contributing 13 receptions for 72 yards.
Jones previously handled significant workloads, including 23 carries for 105 yards versus the Chicago Bears and 25 attempts for 113 yards and a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints. However, his involvement versus Indianapolis was considerably smaller, as he finished with eight carries for 26 yards and one reception without a gain.
The return of running back Jordan Mason from injured reserve has also changed Minnesota's backfield workload. Mason returned on October 24 and led the Vikings with 15 carries for 68 yards against the Colts.
