Veronica Burton pulled off an inspiring effort as she put together a historic performance in the Golden State Valkyries' 64-55 win over the Atlanta Dream in Game 5 of the 2026 WNBA Finals on Monday night.

Burton has been playing in the league since 2022, going through her second season with the Valkyries. She has secured her place as a full-time starter, helping Golden State shine as an incredible squad throughout the campaign. This paved the way for them to make the WNBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Golden State had its back against the wall with a 2-1 series deficit after losing Game 3. They have since bounced back with wins in Games 4 and 5 to take a 3-2 series lead over Atlanta.

Veronica Burton had a solid night with 13 points, eight rebounds, four blocks, three assists, and one steal. She shot 5-of-15 overall, including 1-of-6 from downtown, and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line. Her efforts placed her in the record books of WNBA Finals history, per the league itself.

“Veronica Burton’s four blocks tie Diana Taurasi (2009) as the most blocks by a guard in a WNBA Finals game. Burton also set her postseason career high in blocks,” the post read.
