The Golden State Valkyries have held serve on their home court at Ballhalla, and now they are just one win away from their first-ever trip to the WNBA Finals. After a hot start on Wednesday night, Golden State had to survive a furious comeback from the Las Vegas Aces to get an 83-81 win and take a 2-0 series lead in the semifinals.
The Valkyries took a 17-point lead early in this one, but the three-headed monster of A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray showcased their championship mettle to stage a comeback. Las Vegas even took a late lead, but a huge 3-pointer from Veronica Burton and some clutch free-throw shooting from the Valkyries helped secure the victory.
The series now heads back to Las Vegas on Friday night for Game 3, where the Aces are looking to extend their season and the Valkyries are looking to advance to the WNBA Finals by sweeping the defending champs. Game 4 would also be in Vegas before a potential deciding Game 5 in the Bay Area.
