Utah is now 8-0 on the year and is looking to make a run to the College Football Playoff. Utah has jumped into the Top 5 in the AP Poll and is heading into the biggest stretch of the season.

This Saturday, Utah will host BYU in a Top 10 matchup. As they head into the game, the Utes will be without one of their top players, per Pete Thamel of ESPN.

“Morgan Scalley announces that Utah freshman starting offensive lineman Kelvin Obot (lower leg) is out for the year. He's a former 5-star recruit at offensive tackle who was a Top 50 overall recruit and a Top 5 tackle recruit. He'd started three games at guard for Utah this year,” Thamel posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Obot left the game with Colorado after being rolled up on during a run by Wayshawn Parker against Colorado. He missed the game against Cincinnati this past weekend, and now is out of the lineup. Head coach Morgan Scalley understands the implications of one of his top offensive linemen being out of the lineup, per Jason Batacao of The Salt Lake Tribune.

“We’ve got BYU coming up, huge matchup,” Scalley said. “I believe it’s the first time that we’ve both been in the top 10 going up against each other. It’s awesome, awesome for the state. Big rivalry game. Kalani, respect the heck out of him.”

BYU and Utah have faced off 97 times previously. BYU has won three straight in the series, but Utah leads the series 59-24-4. The top-ten matchup between BYU and Utah is set for noon ET on Saturday.
