The No. 3 USC women's basketball got the job done in its first test of the 2026-27 season, which also marked its first game with JuJu Watkins back in action after a long recovery from a serious knee injury.
The Trojans trounced the unranked UNLV Lady Rebels in a Hall of Fame Series game on Monday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to the tune of a 100-68 score.
Watkins looked solid with her play overall despite a long time away from NCAA play, but it was still a total team effort that paved the way for the Trojans' first win of the campaign.
Moreover, the Trojans did something the program has not seen since the 1980s.
“The AP No. 3 USC women's basketball team scored 100 points in a season opener for the first time since 1985-86 (102 against BYU). That's the last time the Trojans reached the Final Four,” ESPN Insights shared via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.
Watkins, who missed all of the 2025-26 season with an ACL injury she suffered during the second round of the 2025 NCAA tournament, finished the UNLV game with 21 points on 9-for-22 shooting from the floor to go with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in 21 minutes of duty.
