As the USC football season has seen wide receiver Trent Mosley score touchdowns and provide exciting play for the program, he sustained a knee injury that could put a damper on his season. While Mosley will be out for USC football's matchup against Rutgers on Saturday, another injury update reveals the amount of time he's expected to miss.

According to CBS Sports insider Matt Zenitz, Mosley is “currently expected to miss multiple games” because of the knee injury, with the next three matchups after Rutgers being against the Oregon Ducks, Washington Huskies, and Penn State Nittany Lions.

“USC star true freshman wide receiver and punt returner Trent Mosley is currently expected to miss multiple games due to a knee injury, sources tell [CBS Sports],” Zenitz wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “After facing Rutgers this week, USC faces Oregon, Washington and Penn State.”

The true freshman has acted as a top receiver for the Trojans, along with being an effective punt returner, recording a punt return touchdown in the team's 49-30 win over the University of Louisiana.

So far this season with the USC football program, Mosley, as a receiver, has logged 255 yards with four touchdowns on 13 catches, as the first two games saw what he could be for this offense. In the opener against San Jose State, he caught seven passes for 118 yards and a touchdown, leading to the next week against Fresno State, recording four catches for 104 yards and a score.

Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley spoke about Mosley's knee injury on Wednesday, saying that the absence won't be “long-term.”

“We knew after the game that there was a little something that we needed to get looked at,” Riley said, via Sports Illustrated. “And so we were able to do that…We'll just continue monitoring forward. Don't expect it to be extremely long-term, but still a little inconclusive at this time, depending on how he responds. We'll see, but certainly not going to be ready this week.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen when Mosley returns to the team.
