Week 6 of the 2026 college football season has a pair of games between ranked teams on the slate, starting with No. 21 UCLA at No. 13 Oregon early in the day and then the massive SEC tilt between No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Alabama in prime-time.

But an uninvited guest is looming, threatening to crash that SEC party.

We refer of course to the newly named Tropical Storm Isaias, the system currently churning in the Gulf and expected to become a classified hurricane before the week is over. As of Wednesday morning, Isaias had winds of 40 miles per hour, and according to the latest forecasting models from the National Hurricane Center, Isaias is expected to become a hurricane by Thursday morning:

And that track above takes the storm right into Mobile Bay, and then north into Alabama, on Saturday.

With Georgia-Alabama schedule to kick off at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday night.

The SEC did release a statement on Wednesday, noting that the conference is “keeping an eye on forecasts” and “staying in communication with schools” ahead of the storm.

Forecasters anticipate that Tropical Storm Isaias could strengthen into a Category 1 or even a Category 2 Hurricane, with sustained winds approaching 110 miles per hour. According to the Weather Channel, Isaias could “rapidly strengthen to at least a Category 2 by Friday evening in the central Gulf.”

The Weather Channel believes that hurricane watches will likely be issued along the Gulf Coast later in the day Wednesday. Forecasts anticipate heavy rain from the system arriving along the Gulf Coast as soon as Friday, with as much as ten inches falling locally.

However, Isaias’s path is far from certain. While forecasters anticipate the system will drift to the east, before turning north toward the Gulf Coast, the path is not set in stone. Here, from the Weather Channel, are the “spaghetti models” for Tropical Storm Isaias as of Wednesday morning:

While the SEC is currently monitoring the situation, the conference has adjusted games due to hurricanes before. The last time the SEC moved a football game was back in September of 2022, when South Carolina moved a game against Charlotte from Saturday to Thursday night, and Florida moved a game against Eastern Washington from Saturday to Sunday, due to Hurricane Ian.
