The Baltimore Orioles underperformed during the 2026 season. They entered the year with lofty expectations, but the Orioles ultimately missed the postseason. It will be interesting to see how Baltimore approaches the offseason. The Orioles may need to make some changes. Starting pitcher Trevor Rogers recently reflected on the '26 campaign, via Ryan Ripken.
“You are going to have some bumps in the road over 162 games. There's going to be times where nothing goes right,” Rogers said. “We're gonna have a losing streak. Every team I've been on, we've lost six, seven games in a row. And there's been times where everything is clicking on all cylinders, we feel like we can beat everybody, and we go six, seven games in a row… We get back to .500, we lose the next six, like how do we shorten that into, you know, we drop two, win three?
“How do we shorten those moments of the season and play consistent baseball throughout the year?”
Article Continues BelowRogers had an inconsistent campaign from an individual standpoint as well. He made 30 starts for the first time in his career, but he also recorded a mediocre 4.03 ERA. Rogers added 157 strikeouts across 169.2 innings of work on the mound.
The Orioles unquestionably feature talent on their roster, but putting it all together to produce a winning ball club has proven to be a challenge. Baltimore is hoping it can figure things out next year. The ceiling remains high for the O's, but they need to get things going sooner rather than later.
