Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa predictions
This was not the start to the season that Tottenham Hotspur fans anticipated.
A ã332m summer spending spree was supposed to mark the start of a new era in the white and navy half of north London.ÃÂ
Instead, Spurs have failed to score in any of their first four Premier League fixtures. A record of two draws and two defeats has left Roberto De Zerbi with questions to answer.ÃÂ
There is no threat of the Italian losing his job any time soon, but if results do not improve in the coming weeks then even the well-paid De Zerbi will find himself vulnerable.
After back-to-back 17th-place finishes in the Premier League, it looks like it will take more than a significant transfer outlay to turn Tottenham around.
Aston Villa have also hit the ground trudging at the start of 2026/27, although in their case a slow start is more understandable.
Villa were forced to conduct an overhaul of their squad over the summer as the likes of Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa, Emiliano Martinez, Lucas Digne, Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins moved on.
They have collected only one point from the first 12 available, meaning Villa are one of only three teams below Tottenham in the early Premier League table.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa tips
Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa will do battle in the early kick-off on Saturday.
More struggles for Spurs
Neither Tottenham Hotspur nor Aston Villa be pleased with how the campaign has begun, but we envisage the away team being the happier come the final whistle on Saturday.
That does not necessarily mean Villa will emerge triumphant, but they should at least avoid defeat in north London.
Tottenham have been poor at home for some time now. They have won only one of their last 24 Premier League games in front of their own fans.
Confidence within the squad is low and Aston Villa can seize on that this weekend.
â½ Tip Aston Villa or a draw at 4/5 with Sky Bet â½
Trouble going forward
Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa have been unconvincing at both ends so far, but especially in attack.
Spurs failed to make the net bulge in any of their first four matches, drawing blanks against Brentford, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Everton.
Aston Villa have only scored once, and that solitary strike came after three consecutive failures against Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal and Hull City.
The evidence does not point towards a goalfest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
â½ Go for under 2.5 goals at 21/20 with Betfred â½
Jackson one to watch
Unai Emery has largely stuck with the players who have been with him for a while at the start of this season.
The likes of Ibrahim Mbaye, Johan Manzambi, Alysson, Matteo Ruggeri and Alejandro Garnacho are being eased in by the Aston Villa boss.
The exceptions to that in terms of outfielders are Nicolas Jackson and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, both of whom have Premier League experience.
Jackson is still waiting for his first league goal for Villa, although he did score in the Champions League victory over Club Brugge.
â½ Back Nicolas Jackson to score any time at 9/4 with bet365 â½
