The Week 5 game between the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans offered both teams an opportunity to secure their first victory of the season. Ultimately, the Texans seized the opportunity, crushing the Titans 26-3 and extending Tennessee’s winless start to 0-5. Despite the disappointing record, Titans quarterback Cam Ward refused to view himself as “a loser.”

During his postgame press conference, a reporter asked Ward whether he had gotten used to losing after the Titans' difficult start to the season. But Ward firmly rejected the idea.

“No, I'm not a loser. The record may say that we are right now. But at the end of the day, you got to go through some stuff to try to get wins,” Ward said.

The Titans’ offensive struggles have extended far beyond their winless record, as they managed just 187 total yards against Houston. Their inability to generate consistent production has left them ranked last in the league in both points scored and total offensive yards.

Ward completed 23 of his 36 pass attempts for 170 yards while throwing one interception. He was also sacked four times as Houston’s defense repeatedly disrupted Tennessee’s passing attack.

ESPN NFL Nation reporter Turron Davenport also delivered a harsh assessment of the Titans quarterback’s difficult outing.

“4th & 20, Cam Ward is sacked again. This is possibly the worst showing I've ever seen,” Davenport reported.

Ward entered the NFL with significant expectations after establishing himself as one of the most productive quarterbacks in college football. The Titans were searching for a long-term solution at quarterback, and the first overall of the 2025 NFL Draft was expected to bring the talent, and leadership needed to help the team become competitive again.

Unfortunately, so far nothing has gone as planned. However, head coach Robert Saleh boldly reaffirmed that Ward would remain the Titans’ quarterback following Sunday's loss.
