The Minnesota Vikings are undefeated at 5-0. Brian Flores’ defense deserves plenty of credit for making sure that winning streak stays alive. Minnesota has been downright suffocating, especially when games reach the fourth quarter. They have allowed just three points in the final period all season.

The Vikings rank first in the NFL in fourth-quarter points allowed (three), yards per play allowed (3.6), rushing yards allowed (12), opponent third-down conversion rate (11.1%) and red-zone touchdown rate (0.0%). They also lead the league in opponent first downs per game (2.8) and quarterback hits (14). Minnesota is also tied for the top spot in three-and-out percentage at 50%. Minnesota ranks second in fourth-quarter takeaways with five and sacks with eight. That underscores how Flores’ aggressive, unpredictable schemes keep opposing offenses guessing when the pressure is highest.

The numbers look even more impressive in context. Since halftime of Minnesota’s season opener against Green Bay, the defense has allowed just three touchdowns. Opposing quarterbacks have posted a 60.7 passer rating. That's the lowest mark in the NFL through five games in five years. Meanwhile, the Vikings remain the only team to record a takeaway in every game this season. An astounding 40.6% of plays against Minnesota have resulted in no gain or a loss. From Dallas Turner’s pass rush to Byron Murphy Jr.’s coverage and Blake Cashman’s work against the run, Flores has built a unit that thrives on making stops.

The Vikings enter Week 6 at 5-0. Kyler Murray directs an offense powered by Aaron Jones Sr. and Justin Jefferson. Head coach Kevin O’Connell’s team has paired that production with elite defensive execution, establishing itself as a serious NFC contender. If Flores’ group keeps delivering big time stops, Minnesota will be a nightmare for opponents down the stretch.
