Tennessee Titans wide receiver Carnell Tate sustained a back injury during Thursday's practice, initially leaving his status for the Week 5 matchup against the Houston Texans uncertain. However, it appears it was nothing serious, as head coach Robert Saleh shared good news on Friday.

The 21-year-old wide receiver got the green light to play on Sunday, according to ESPN's Turron Davenport. Saleh claimed that Tate experienced tightness in his back during practice on Thursday, and that it is nothing to be concerned about.

“Robert Saleh said Carnell Tate is good to go,” Davenport reported. “Tate had some random tightness yesterday but is fine, per Robert Saleh.”

Carnell Tate has already flashed major potential in the first four games of his career. Although the Titans have yet to win a contest this season, the 2026 first-round pick has already hauled in 22 receptions for 268 yards off 32 targets. He'll aim to record his first career touchdown on Sunday against a struggling Texans team.

The 24-18 Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens was Tate's breakout game for Tennessee. He finished that contest with nine receptions for 145 yards, making several big plays for the Titans throughout the contest. However, rookie mistakes are still prevalent, as he did lose a fumble late in the second half when the offense was trying to put up points in the final seconds before halftime.

Week 5 will be a nice challenge for Tate and the Titans. The Texans' defense hasn't lived up to expectations, but still has the stopping power to shut down the offense if that unit turns things around. However, Tennessee has kept it close in three of its first four games this year. While both clubs are seeking their first win of the campaign, this could turn out to be a fun matchup in the AFC South.
