The Tennessee Titans will be without starting safety Amani Hooker for the Week 5 matchup against the Houston Texans after he failed to clear concussion protocol, head coach Robert Saleh confirmed Friday.
Hooker missed Wednesday and Thursday's practices after reporting concussion symptoms earlier in the week. He initially returned to Tennessee's Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens after being evaluated but will now sit out Sunday's contest.
The eighth-year Titans safety has recorded 28 tackles, including one for a loss, two pass deflections and an interception this season. His interception came against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 20, when he returned the ball 92 yards to set up a touchdown.
In Hooker's absence, Tony Adams is expected to start against Houston. The fifth-year veteran joined Tennessee as a free agent in March after spending his first four NFL seasons with the New York Jets.
Adams has appeared in all four games this season, logging three tackles and a quarterback hit. Across 57 career appearances, including 36 starts in 53 games with the Jets, Adams has accumulated four interceptions and 235 tackles.
Safety Isaiah Oliver is also expected to be elevated from the Titans' practice squad for Sunday's contest.
Meanwhile, cornerback Joshua Williams practiced Friday after being designated to return from injured reserve earlier in the week. Saleh praised Williams' progress but did not confirm whether he would be activated for the Texans game.

Saleh said tight end Gunnar Helm and receiver Carnell Tate, who were added to the injury report with knee and back issues, respectively, should be available.
Safety Kevin Winston Jr. practiced in a yellow jersey, while tight end David Martin-Robinson did not practice because of a hamstring injury.
Tennessee will hold a walkthrough Saturday before facing Houston.
