Minnesota Timberwolves guard LaMelo Ball had a frustrating night against the San Antonio Spurs, and one moment left the broadcast crew reacting in disbelief. Ball appeared to spit directly onto the court after picking up his fourth foul before halftime during Saturday's 121-111 loss.
The incident happened in the second quarter, with Ball already struggling to stay out of foul trouble. He was sent to the bench with 7:40 remaining in the half after Minnesota fell behind 46-38.
A video shared by Fullcourtpass on X captured Ball spitting onto the hardwood following the whistle. The moment also drew a visibly negative reaction from viewers online.
The account suggested the voices reacting in the clip belonged to the Spurs' announcers, although their identities were not independently confirmed.
Ball's frustration was understandable given his difficult start, but the gesture quickly became a talking point beyond his performance.
The Timberwolves guard picked up two fouls within the opening four minutes. Two more followed in the second quarter, leaving Minnesota without its starting point guard for an extended stretch.
Interestingly, the Timberwolves responded with a 16-0 run after Ball went to the bench, eventually taking a 61-60 halftime lead.
His troubles continued after the break. Ball collected his fifth foul early in the third quarter before eventually fouling out with 3:43 remaining.
