Since being draft second overall in 2022, Chet Holmgren has established himself as one of the best players in the NBA. The Gonzaga product already has a championship, an All-Star nod, and an All-Defensive First Team appearance to his name. Holmgren is an elite rim protector with a unicorn-esque skill set on offense.
Really, injury issues and weight concerns are the only critiques that fans have had regarding the Oklahoma City Thunder star, and those two problems may go hand in hand. Holmgren missed all of his would-be rookie season, and he was limited to 32 games played during the regular season ahead of the Thunder's 2025 championship run.
Article Continues BelowFans have long begged for Holmgren to hit the gym and put on weight, and this offseason, he did just that. Well, sort of. Clemente Almanza went viral for tweeting that Holmgren gained two pounds in the offseason, going from a listed 213 pounds to 215. Of course, the tweet poked fun at the fact that Holmgren is still uber skinny and will once again be going into a season without much of a mass increase.
Holmgren's weight might not be as big of an issue as it is often made out to be, though. Many of his injuries have been pretty fluky and not necessarily tied to his body being frail. Furthermore, Holmgren always holds his own in the painted area, even against bigger centers. Regardless, the Thunder will need a bounce-back season from their big man after he struggled mightily in the postseason.
