There’s little doubt that the Tennessee Titans pulled off a shocking trade. And the reactions are coming fast and furious. So the logical question is: What is the next trade the Titans must make after starting their fire sale with the Jeffery Simmons blockbuster deal to the Bears?

Heading into Week 8, the Titans are 1-6 and buried in the AFC South. Their 2026 dreams for a quality season are in the dust. But they’ve secured a strong future with two first-round picks over the next two seasons.

So will they add to the draft coffers even more?

Titans must trade RB Tony Pollard

Let’s face it. The NFL’s not-for-long moniker applies heavily to the running back position. Pollard is an eight-year veteran. He can’t have many more NFL seasons left on his 29-year-old body. Remember, running backs hit the wall at age 30, in general.

But Pollard has trade value because of his production. He’s coming off four straight 1,000-yard seasons, two with the Cowboys and the last two with the Titans. And this year he’s on pace for yet another one.

Also, Pollard has four touchdowns already. That puts him on pace for easily the second-highest scoring total of his career. Also, he’s still a reliable receiver out of the backfield.

Of course, the Titans won’t get Simmons-like draft picks in return for Pollard. But they can get something. And the Pollard thing can be one of those things where real football imitates fantasy football. For the same reason Pollard is considered a sell-high candidate in the fantasy world, it’s the same logic in the NFL.

Last week against the Browns, Pollard rushed for a season-high 129 yards. His previous high was 76. He also scored three touchdowns after failing to score in five of the other six games this season.

Of course, Pollard not being able to get in the end zone is more a product of the Titans’ awful offense. Pollard still has some juice, and maybe a team would like to buy what’s left.

Perhaps the Titans could squeeze out a fourth- or fifth-round pick for Pollard. It’s certainly worth a try.

Who could the Titans deal with?

Ironically, it’s the team that just saw Pollard. The Browns have reportedly been searching for running back help. And they just got an up-close-and-personal look at Pollard. There’s no doubt they know what he can do.

What does Pollard bring to the table? Several good things, according to ESPN.

“Pollard is a slasher,” Matt Bowen wrote. “With change-of-direction ability and vision to find daylight, he had his best day of the season in Week 7, producing 155 total yards against the Browns' defense. Pollard's receiving traits have been minimized in a struggling Titans offense this season, but he had 30 or more catches in each of his previous five seasons. He's a dual-threat back who could step into a lead role — if the Titans decided to make a move.”

Bowen and Jeremy Fowler pointed to the Commanders and Vikings as the teams with the most interest in Pollard.
