The Philadelphia Eagles recently got some scary news when it was announced that quarterback Jalen Hurts would be out for the remainder of the year after more blood clots were discovered in his lungs. The news comes just days after it was revealed that Hurts was placed on IR with a blood clot in his leg, having played through the ailment two weeks ago against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Now, the team has gotten more information on how he was allowed to play in that game despite the issue.

“After the #Eagles flew to London, an ultrasound found a superficial blood clot in his calf. Doctors still cleared him to play. However, the night before the game, he spent time in the hospital and was told not to sleep because it was a risk. He played the full game without much sleep,” reported NFL insider Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on X, formerly Twitter.

Meirov also reported that “He then took the roughly 7-8 hour flight from London back to Philly and started practicing in full that week,” after which the additional clots that have now ruled him out were discovered.

It's certainly a frightening situation for the former Super Bowl MVP, and the primary concern now is that he is able to recover in a safe manner, regardless of how long that might keep him off the field.
