The Indianapolis Colts are living out their nightmare scenario after Week 6. Indy lost a heartbreaker against Tennessee, giving their division rival their first win of the season. Now the Colts look like they are on the precipice of a rebuild after firing GM Chris Ballard on Monday. If the Colts do become sellers at the deadline, one player could draw a lot of attention.

Colts guard Quenton Nelson was named as a potential trade candidate by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler after the Ballard firing.

“Colts have several attractive pieces on the roster, including pending free agent Quenton Nelson.” Fowler wrote on Monday.

The contract part of this decision could play a huge role. As Fowler noted, Nelson is on an expiring contract. That means the Colts would need to hand him a big-money deal this offseason to keep him for the future. Meanwhile, having an expiring contract makes it easier other teams to acquire Nelson in a trade. However, they'll be faced with the same contract dilemma.

Regardless, almost any team in the NFL would be grateful to land a player like Nelson. The 30-year-old guard is an eight-time Pro Bowler and six-time All-Pro selection. He set a Colts franchise record for the most total and First-Team All-Pro selections by a guard in team history.

Now that Ballard has been fired, it looks like anything could be on the table for the Colts.

The NFL's trade deadline is on November 10th at 4 p.m. ET. It will be fascinating to see how many players, if any, the Colts ship away before that deadline next month. In the meantime, Indy's schedule does not get any kinder.

Next up for the Colts is a Week 7 matchup against the undefeated Vikings. That contest kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Oct. 25 from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
