On Saturday evening, the Texas football program pulled off its biggest comeback in nearly two decades by storming back from 20 points down to defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Longhorns got off to an ugly start in this one, including fumbling on the first play of the game, but Arch Manning and company stuck with it and ultimately ended up scoring in the final seconds to secure the win.
After the game, the Texas football social media team had some fun at the Buckeyes' expense.
Last year, these two teams squared off in Columbus, Ohio, with Ohio State winning in comfortable fashion in Arch Manning's first road start of his career. Texas would ultimately try to use that loss as proof of their candidacy for the college football playoff in a reverse-logical sort of way, but the committee ruled that the Longhorns' three losses last year were enough to keep them out of the 12-team field.
This time around, Texas won't have to worry about trying to earn pity points after knocking off Ryan Day's squad in front of a packed house in Austin, with Manning overcoming a slow start to deliver some crucial throws down the stretch, and the Longhorns also finally finding some ways to slow down star Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith in the fourth quarter after he torched them throughout most of the evening.
It's certainly understandable that the Texas social media team would want to fire off a few jokes in celebration of the win.
In any case, the Longhorns will next hit the field on September 19 for a home game against UTSA.
