The Houston Texans are looking to get back on track this season. After a tough loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, Houston will take on the Cincinnati Bengals once again on the road. Unfortunately, they did not escape the first week of the season unharmed.
Houston's injury report entering Week 2 is slightly longer than Cincinnati's, although it isn't too bad compared to other injury lists. Regardless, there are some notable names on the list that might affect how your fantasy football players perform. Let's look at the Texans' injury report and its impact on fantasy football.
Texans' injury report for Week 2
DE Jadeveon Clowney â KneeÃÂ
WR Nico Collins â Hamstring
OT Ed Ingram âÂÂàGroin
LB Jake Hammel â Ankle
There's one name in particular that stands out in this week's injury report: Nico Collins. The Texans' standout wide receiver popped off in Week 1, but he also suffered a hamstring injury in the midst of his season debut. Collins was a limited participant in their Wednesday practice, but he did not join Houston's practice in the following two days. Collins' final injury designation was out, which means that the wide receiver won't suit up in Week 2
Other notable names who were listed in Thursday's injury report are pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney, offensive lineman Ed Ingram, and linebacker Jake Hummel. Hummel and Ingram are both starters for the Texans, while Clowney comes off the bench.

The bulk of the Texans' fantasy output in Week 2 hinges on Collins' availability. Week 1 showed that Collins is still CJ Stroud's go-to guy: his utilization percentage according to FantasyPros sat at 19%, the highest among all Houston wide receivers. He was targeted ten times by Stroud, and he answered the call by putting up seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown, finishing with 21.2 fantasy points after adding seven rushing yards.
SinceÃÂ Collins is ruled out, that greatly changes the Texans' passing approach in Week 2. Tight end Dalton Schultz was the second-most targeted player in Week 1, followed by Xavier Hutchinson, David Montgomery, and Jaylin Noel. Late offseason acquisition Kayshon Boutte was not heavily involved in the passing attack last week, being targeted just twice. However, outside of Montgomery, the rest of the Texans' pass-catchers recorded single-digit fantasy points. Good fantasy performances come from being more featured in an offense, but Hutchinson (3.2 FPTS with 14% target share) and Schultz (3.5 FPTS on 15% target share) are the exception to the norm.
That's due in large part to the Texans' renewed efforts to establish the run game. Montgomery had a utilization percentage of 59% in Week 1, being heavily featured in the Houston offense. That should be even more true if Collins, the Texans' best threat in the passing attack, misses the game. The Bengals defense was also middling against the run last week (19.1 points allowed to RBs), which might further incentivize Houston to run the ball.
Clowney's absence shouldn't impact the Texans D/ST's output too much. A rotational edge piece at this point in his career, Clowney's presence won't be as impactful, especially with both Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter healthy. It's worth noting that Anderson missed one day of practice due to rest, but has come off the injury list since.
