Marvin Harrison Jr. wasted no time making an impression with the Houston Texans. He took a punishing hit on his first reception while showing the toughness Houston needs from its newest offensive weapon. During the second quarter of Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London, Harrison caught a 14-yard pass from CJ Stroud on an in-breaking route across the middle. Jacksonville safety Eric Murray immediately delivered a crushing blow. It appeared to jolt the wide receiver as the ball arrived. Harrison, however, absorbed the contact. He held onto the football and completed the reception to keep Houston's drive moving.

Acquired from Arizona earlier in the week in a blockbuster trade, Harrison faces immediate expectations to strengthen Houston's passing attack alongside Nico Collins. His first catch offered an encouraging glimpse of what the Texans are getting. This is a receiver willing to work through traffic and finish plays even when defenders deliver their hardest shots.

Selected fourth overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 2024, Harrison entered the NFL with enormous expectations. He recorded 885 receiving yards and eight touchdowns during his debut campaign. He tied a franchise mark for receiving scores. His second season featured flashes of his polished route running, body control, and contested-catch ability. Arizona's offensive struggles, though, limited his overall impact.

After a quiet start to the 2026 season, the Cardinals traded him to Houston. They reunited him with Stroud, his former Ohio State quarterback. The move gives Harrison a fresh opportunity to unlock his potential in an offense featuring Collins as another major receiving threat. If his debut reception is any indication, Harrison is ready for his new role as Houston pushes toward a stronger second half of the season.
