Not much has gone according to plan for the Houston Texans this season. The team is 0-4, largely in part because their depth has been tested by injuries. Jayden Higgins' season was ended before it even got started, and Tank Dell has been on the injured return for all of the season thus far. The rest of the team's IR and PUP are filled with would-be contributors, too.

The team's slow start and injury issues led to them signing three players to the practice squad, all relatively big-namers for the taxi team. Adam Schefter reported that Deuce Vaughn, Chad Muma, and Jaden Davis were signed to the practice squad.

Vaughn is noteworthy for being just a 5-foot-5 running back, but he has great speed and experience in the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos systems. Muma is a linebacker who was a third-round pick as recently as 2022. He started a handful of games for the Jacksonville Jaguars early on in his career. Davis is a cornerback out of Miami who was a seventh-round selection of the Arizona Cardinals in 2024. He has the least notoriety of the three players, but still holds some intriguing potential.

The Texans need all the help they can get. Only one team, the 1992 San Diego Chargers, has ever made the playoffs after an 0-4 start. If anyone can do it, though, it is this Texans team. They started 0-3 last year and still made the playoffs, and the defense is still one of the best in the league. While the offense hasn't lived up to expectations, Nico Collins is a beast when healthy, and it wasn't that long ago that C.J. Stroud had one of the best rookie seasons ever. The practice squad additions are unlikely to be big contributors for Houston, but the team desperately needed depth.
