Neyland Stadium has been the home of Tennessee football since 1921. The original stadium opened with a single grandstand and a capacity of just 3,200. Over the years, there have been multiple changes to the stadium. The seating capacity now sits at 102,455 people. Meanwhile, Tennessee has also changed traditions, such as replacing a Morgan Wallen song with one by Dolly Parton as the fourth-quarter hype song.

Now, the area outside the stadium is changing, according to a plan for a new entertainment district around the stadium, per Grant Ramey of On3.

The stadium will now have a luxury hotel overlooking Neyland.

“The first game at Neyland with the 24-story hotel overlooking the southeast corner of the stadium: Sept. 1, 2029 vs. Washington/ 186 hotel rooms, 51 luxury residences, 30 condo/hotel units, private members club and a world-class restaurant,” Ramey posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Renderings of the design show the ability to watch the game from the hotel that overlooks the field. The hotel is part of a much bigger project right outside of Neyland, according to the project's website.

“865 Neyland is the future gathering place of the University of Tennessee, a transformative entertainment district and 24-story hotel and residential tower taking shape along the Tennessee River adjacent to Neyland Stadium. Blending the traditions of Tennessee Athletics with premier dining, hospitality, live entertainment, and residential experiences, the district is designed to bring people together 365 days a year,” the site says.

Neyland Stadium has been expanded 13 times, while being renovated four times in its nearly 105 years of existence.
