The final chapter of the Connecticut Sun was written on Thursday, as they played their last game at Mohegan Sun Arena before relocating to Houston next season.

The Sun's story ended on a positive note, beating the Toronto Tempo, 95-81. They tallied an 11-33 record in their farewell season.

Team president Jen Rizzotti failed to hold back her tears in her postgame speech. She expressed her gratitude to the packed crowd.

“You never disappointed. You proved that Connecticut deserves a WNBA team. I just want you all to know that no matter what happens from here, this team, as they move on to the next chapter of their careers, the success all of them will have in the future, you will always be a part of that,” said Rizzotti, who starred at Connecticut in college.

She also lauded the players for staying strong throughout the emotional season, touting the “culture we have in this locker room.”

“This is a really special group. The WNBA is hard. It's hard to win in this league, and it's hard to win when you have a lot of young players, but what's not hard is watching this core of young players give it their all, all year long,” added Rizzotti.

Ashlon Jackson came off the bench against the Tempo and scored 18 points on 5-of-9 three-pointers. Raegan Beers added 17 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks, while Aaliyah Edwards chipped in 16 points and four rebounds.

The Sun, who reached the WNBA Finals four times, was purchased by Tilman Fertitta for $300 million in March. With the franchise's relocation, the Houston Comets, one of the WNBA's founding teams, will be relaunched. Fertitta also owns the Houston Rockets

The Sun became a home to multiple stars, including Jonquel Jones, Nykesha Sales, Tina Charles, Brittney Griner, Katie Douglas, Asjha Jones, and DeWanna Bonner, among others.
