The stage is set for this year's playoffs after the final day of the regular season on Thursday. Some of the first-round matchups were not decided until the last minute.

The Minnesota Lynx, who secured the No. 1 seed on Tuesday, will face the New York Liberty. It will be a rematch of the 2024 WNBA Finals, wherein the Liberty finally captured their first title.

The Golden State Valkyries locked the No. 2 seed and will go up against the Dallas Wings. It has been quite the ascent for the Valkyries in only their second year in the league. Last year, they became the first expansion team to reach the playoffs in their debut season.

The Wings returned to the playoffs after a two-season absence.

Another blockbuster pairing in the opening round is the Las Vegas Aces facing the Indiana Fever as the No. 3 seed and No. 6 seed, respectively. The Aces are looking for their fourth title in five years.

The Fever dropped in the team standings, setting a date with the defending champions after losing to the Lynx on Thursday.

Instead, the Washington Mystics got the No. 5 seed with a victory over the Chicago Sky on Thursday. They will battle the Atlanta Dream, who secured the No. 4 seed on Tuesday.
