The Milwaukee Brewers are locked in for the postseason, as they are already guaranteed a bye into the NLDS by virtue of having one of the two best records in the NL. But in the final week of the regular season, home-field advantage throughout the postseason was still up for grabs, with the Los Angeles Dodgers still alive in that race.

However, the Dodgers lost to the San Diego Padres, 4-2, on Thursday. With that loss, the Dodgers now have a 97-62 record. Meanwhile, the Brewers already have 100 wins to their name. This makes it so that LA cannot finish above Milwaukee in the standings, with the latter owning the tiebreaker by virtue of winning the season series, 4-3.

Thus, as Bob Nightengale of USA Today pointed out, the Brewers have now secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs by clinching the best record in MLB for 2026.

With three games remaining in the regular season, Brewers manager Pat Murphy is no doubt going to manage the workload of his most important players. But considering that the Brewers won't be beginning their postseason journey on October 3 in Game 1 of the NLDS, finding a balance between maintaining rhythm and getting rest is going to be tricky.

Nonetheless, it's going to be a luxury for the Brewers. They have a better record at home (52-26) than they do on the road (48-33), although that difference isn't exactly huge. But in the postseason, where every bit of advantage matters, this could prove to be the difference.

The Brewers have won at least 90 games in five out of seven seasons this decade. They've been among the best teams in MLB since 2018, and they have yet to make it back to the World Series ever since they fell short in a heartbreaking seven-game series all the way back in 1983.
