ATLANTA -- gave the Braves a glimpse of where he stands with his recovery. The team will now have to decide how to best prepare him for the postseason.  

Suarez recorded a strikeout and allowed one hit over a scoreless inning in a Minor League rehab appearance for Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. This was his first appearance in a game since he developed right elbow inflammation following a June 19 outing for Atlanta.

Suarez posted a 0.56 ERA in the 31 appearances he made before being shut down in June. He has the potential to be a difference maker if he’s deemed ready to pitch in the National League Wild Card Series, which begins Sept. 29.

When asked on Friday, manager Walt Weiss wasn’t willing to commit to Suarez making a couple appearances with the big league club before the regular season concludes on Sept. 27. He said there was a chance the top setup man continues his rehab at the team’s Spring Training complex and then rejoins Atlanta’s bullpen during the postseason. 

“We’re just reevaluating him every day, but things have gone well,” Weiss said. “He’s progressed well throughout this rehab. So, I don’t anticipate anything. We just never know. It would be nice to see him in a big league game, but I’m not sure. I’m not sure if that’s going to happen.”
