The Chicago White Sox are on the verge of clinching a ticket to the American League Championship Series after defeating the Cleveland Guardians in Game 2 of this ALDS series on Monday. One of the biggest factors in the White Sox's 4-3 victory was pitcher Sean Burke, who pitched a long relief job.

Burke went 5 1/3 innings long in the game, allowing just an earned run on a hit, while issuing a walk and striking out six Guardians batters. He certainly earned the praise thrown at him after the game, even one from Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt.

“Tip your cap to [Sean] Burke. We had our opportunities, we just weren't able to get anything going,” the Guardians skipper said of the White Sox pitcher during the postgame press conference (via MLB Network).

The Guardians took control early, scoring two runs in the first inning. They held on to that 2-0 lead until the fourth inning, when Munetaka Murakami's RBI single cut the deficit in half. After zero runs from both teams in the fifth inning, the White Sox's offense came alive in the next frame.

The sixth inning saw Chicago score three runs, including two off a double from Braden Montgomery. Chase Meidroth’s single later drove Montgomery home to give the South Siders a 4-2 lead.

This was Burke's second mound appearance in this postseason. He allowed three earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts in four innings of start against in the White Sox's serines-clinching 7-3 win in the AL Wild Card Round over the Houston Astros.
